Description

This is a vintage unfired 0-45-1 drone motor by Kiekhaefer. I purchased it recently from the estate of a deceased WWII Navy pilot. Not often found in unfired, or unused condition. The tubes/openings were still wrapped in tape/paper. It is not seized. I don't have the prop hub to help me turn it over, but it is not seized. I moved it carefully about 1/4 turn. The black paint is flaky/chipped in spots, as shown. Shows rust only on the shaft output taper, can be polished out. Original in all respects, even the distributor cover is correct. Inside of distributor is perfect and complete. I have no other parts for it, it needs plugs and wire to run. The adjustments on the carb move freely and smoothly, as well as the spring loaded choke. It still has the glass desiccant plugs
from the factory. It is a Model 0-45-1, Serial Number KC-82884, Model Spec. R-28620, DWG. No. 45G7850, Order #6443, Date Mfgd. 9-45, Kiekhaefer, Cedarburg Wis., Property USN, Cylinder # 45D7875, Dist. Cover #44A10980, Case Assy. #4507852, Case Part No. 45G7853.

I just had a question about whether it had been run or not...
I just looked it over again, and my observations are: The pistons are at the bottom, I can shine a light in the spark plug hole and see inside the exhaust ports. The piston tops are black, like painted black. I checked the point contacts and they don't show any carbon/arc/spark indication at all. The carb has no residue/odor of fuel, and the exhaust ports are still clean, no indication of heat or smoke. Paint on the cylinders and other areas of high heat show no heat damage. I am a car/plane guy, so I am a little familiar with Continental and Lycoming , but not this type. I am still leaning towards unfired, but maybe for the original build testing. If it was fired, I don't think it had any real time on it, possibly a factory test-run before shipping. As a disclaimer, I will say it may have been run. I want to be completely upfront with my buyers, please study the photos and make your own decision. Any white spots are camera flash reflections. Free USPS Parcel Select shipping, U. S. addresses only, International shipping is not available. Since the Post Office is being slowed/shut down, the shipping time may vary. I always ship within one day of receiving payment, but transit times now vary widely, sometimes several days longer. Please bear this in mind, as I cannot control transit time.........The terms...I prefer payment within 2 days from end of auction. I pack very well, and do not charge anything extra as "add-ons". I either charge exact cost shipping, or a flat rate that usually costs you less than it takes for me to safely ship the item. Due to my geographic location, I will not ship Fed-Ex. I do not end auctions early. Please ask questions if needed, I am usually very prompt in my answers. I want you to have a simple and worry free transaction, as I take pride in being a professional. I have been selling on eBay for over 19 years now. I treat my customers as I would expect to be treated.
