    Description

This is an altimeter from WWI era biplanes of the United States Army Air Service - predating the Air Force, and giving it a production date of 1918-20.  This was used in biplanes such as the Nieuport 28 and possibly the Salmson 2.  The face of the dial rotates to compensate for barometric changes, and at the bottom is the adjustment knob to control this.  The knob turns freely and the fascia rotates. The needle responds to barometric changes; I have driven it up to ~5000' and it is relatively accurate.  The "Government Seal" on the side is intact.  Open to trades.
