Spears were the most commonly used weapon throughout history for good reason, they were remarkably effective in both hunting and battle! The medium sized spear head is still over a foot long and in battle could be used for thrusting at close quarters or throwing, in single combat or large troop formations.
The simple, effective, expedient was used throughout history with devastating effect by every major culture including Greeks, Romans, Normans, Saxons, Vikings all the way to modern times with derivations like the rifle mounted bayonet

I got these at the request of a member of local HEMA group. There are 4 different styles made by GDFB as well as a practical axe head. Well made, especially at this price. I also have a variety of Ash spear shafts, varying lengths, 1.25" diameter and slightly tapered toward one end. I'll be listing those separately. If you need one, just ask. No idea how to ship them but we can figure something out.
I'm a collector and a weekend warrior, active in my local Adria group and Renaissance Faires. I sell what I own and can recommend. See my ratings and buy with confidence. Plus I ship fast, often within hours of receiving an order

Spears were one of the most commonly personal weapons throughout history and remained in widespread use as important military and hunting implements until the advent of firearms. They may be seen as the ancestor of such military weapons as the lance, the pilum, the halberd, the naginata, the glaive, the bill, and the pike. One of the earliest weapons fashioned by human beings and their ancestors, the spear is still used for hunting and fishing, and its influences still may be seen in current military gear such as the rifle-mounted bayonet.
Spears may be used as both a projectile and melee weapon. Spears used primarily for thrusting may be used with either one or two hands and tend to have heavier and sturdier designs than those intended exclusively for throwing. Those designed for throwing, often referred to as javelins, tend to be lighter and have a more streamlined head, and they may be thrown either by hand or with the assistance of a spear thrower such as the atlatl or woomera. From the atlatl dart, the arrow for use with bows eventually developed.
