    Description

    This antique Indian sash was part of a small collection of American Indian beadwork items acquired by a person living in the Northeastern USA.   It was given to a Swedish relative in the early 1900’s, 20’s – 30’s and has now been returned to the USA.  No other details of its history survive in the family records and no authoritative appraisal has been conducted.
    However, it is believed to exhibit the style of East Coast Indian tribes.
    It is approximately 4.75 inches wide x 44 inches long.
    There are a small number of missing beads, a few small holes in fabric ends, and several frayed spots on the edging as shown in the photographs, but the piece is in very good condition over all.  This wear attests to its age and use, but it is structurally intact and could be mounted for display if properly done.
