    Description

This is the third lot of bicycle books that comes from the Wheelmen collector Edwin Gerling.  I was lucky enough to win them at auction, but there were some duplicates as well as copies of books that I already owned.  So, I wanted to get these extra books out to others who could enjoy them as well.
This lot is a pretty special lot for collectors.  It starts off with The Art of the Wheelman which as you can see is a beautiful hardbound book published in 1982 and limited to 500 copies.  It alone is worth about 50 bucks, and I have seen it for sale for significantly more than that.
There are 2 Smithsonian Museum books.  Wheels and Wheeling from 1974 gives a wonderful look at the Smithsonian bicycle collection.  However, the second Smithsonian Museum book is really pretty rare - Catalog of the Cycle Collection of the Division of Engineering United States National Museum from 1953.  Quite a few pics for this lot are from this rare book.
For collectors, there are 3 books.  The Encyclopedia of Collectibles has an article written by and shows bikes and memorabilia from the famous bicycle museum owner, the late David Metz.  You can see from the pics the book on bicycle stamp collecting which is written in Japanese.  I would think this would also be pretty uncommon to find, and the very little Japanese doesn't really matter as the pictures of the stamps speak for themselves.  Rare Porcelain Veilleuses Collection is a must have if you have any interest in veilleuses, and of course the only reason it is included in the collection is because it of course has at least one bicycle veilleuse.
The lot is rounded out with Bikes and Trikes of Long Ago and the childrens book Engine Whistles which of course includes the story of boys riding a high wheel.
These books are perfect for anyone looking to expand their collection or gain knowledge on the history and evolution of bicycles. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to add these rare and valuable books to your collection.
Please view the pictures carefully, as they are part of the description.  Thank you.
