Description

This is the Revised edition from 18 April 1958.  These pages are 10-¾” high by 8-½” wide and have been punched for a binder
The Handbook is in VG condition, there is light soiling to the cover page and 2 binder holes have pulled through on the last page, otherwise it is a nice, clean copy.  It is in an older, worn binder, but the nice thing is it is designed to fit most any binder.
After the single-seat, supersonic F-100 fighter entered service in 1954, it developed a high accident rate, in part due to pilot inexperience with the Super Sabre. In response North American built a two-seat training version -- the F-100F -- to train new Super Sabre pilots.  F-100 units deployed to Southeast Asia were a mix of one- and two-seat F-100s, and both types participated in traditional bombing missions.  As tactics evolved, the two-seat F-100F pioneered two new missions - surface to air missile (SAM) suppression, known as “Iron Hand” and high-speed forward air control (FAC) known as “Misty.”  The F-100F would conduct dangerous low-level missions to spot targets for other fighter-bombers, reconnaissance, SAR (search and rescue) and was the first “Wild Weasel” SEAD (suppression of enemy air defenses) The “Hun” logged over 360,000 combat sorties during the Vietnam War until operations ended in 1971.
