In 1978, the film “The Secret Life of Plants” played on the big screen. After seeing the film, my respect and wonder regarding plants was multiplied times ten. Not only are they amazing, without them, we all die. The job of the Queen of the Plant Nation is to make sure plants continue to thrive in this world. She understands them and nurtures them, even as their thorns prick her fingers and their oil breaks her skin out in an itchy rash.
The queen is wearing a plantation style dress that looks remarkably like Scarlett O’Hara’s picnic dress (because it is). It has a layered white cotton petticoat and white pantaloons under the full skirt. I played up the dress with one-of-a-kind accessories that include: a giant leaf scepter, a blown-glass all-seeing orb, a silver circlet with green gems and silver leaves, a green organza wrap, green heels, a green handbag with big flower embellishment, silver plant earrings, a beaded necklace with leaf focal, and a coordinating bracelet. The doll is NOT included.
I acquired this dress second hand, so there is a Scarlet O’Hara Barbie out there somewhere with no dress on. It has been freshly laundered, and except for the green bow at the back of the dress being a bit askew, I don’t see any flaws.
