  • Condition: All items are very old (late 19th century) and are in great shape for their age. The clasp for the purse has come off, but can be sewn back on. Also missing small pieces of cloth and is stained in a few places. The currency note is ripped in a few places.

    Early 1880's Antique Native American Iroquois Beaded Pouch Whimsy Purse w/ 1863 Civil War Fractional Currency Note
    This listing is very unique and special. It includes a early 1880's small beaded purse/coin pouch, a handwritten note from the first owner and an 1863 10 cent fractional currency note. I believe this purse was handmade by the Native American Iroquois people, possibly the Tuscarora tribe in the mid to late 1800’s. (1880 or earlier) The beadwork and hand stitching are beautiful!
    The handwritten note states that the purse was given to the owner on her 5th birthday in 1881 and contained a 1863 10 cent fractional currency note which was used to pay Union Soldiers during the Civil War. The note is wonderful provenance for these very historic items.
    These are great collectibles for all Native American, US Civil War and late nineteenth century US History buffs.
