1890s NATIVE AMERICAN CHIPPEWA INDIAN BEADED SASH / LOOM BEADED NECK STRAP

Very Rare and original, ca1890’s Native American Northern Plains / Chippewa / Ojibwa Indian Beaded Presentation Sash /Neck Strap. This outstanding, 19th century Beaded Ojibwa sash measure approx. 55” long and 5/8” wide and retains its original hide closure that attaches the ends together creating a “necklace” style sash. The Sash is loom beaded and has the name “C Grey” incorporated into the beadwork.
This very attractive, loom beaded Neck Strap / Sash features a repeating, geometric stylized tepee pattern using translucent forest green, translucent red and clear translucent colored seed beads. As stated above the name “C Grey” is incorporated into the beadwork twice.
The Sash / Strap offered here is unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. It is not a reproduction or modern recreation but an original Plains Chippewa / Ojibwa Sash crafted in the 3rd quarter of the 19th century. This rare and original, ca1890’s Plains Chippewa / Ojibwa Beaded Sash / Neckstrap is in very good condition. The Sash is intact and sound with repairs of any kind. There are three small areas of minor bead loss but overall the beadwork is well preserved. As stated above, the Sash / Strap retains its original hide closure which binds the ends of the strip into a continuous Neckstrap. Please see the scans below for a good indication of the form and condition of this wonderful Chippewa / Ojibwa Sash.
